02.04.2008 - Zdeněk Horsák, SITA CZ, Managing Director
After successful finishing of the main decontamination part of the Spolana Dioxins project in Neratovice, SITA CZ a.s. sells its share in BCD CZ a.s. to the British company of TCSR.
SITA CZ a.s. sold its 50 per cent share in BCD CZ a.s. to its former partner, British TSCR Limited. TSCR provided the technical execution of the Spolana Dioxins project - decontamination in the chemical plant Spolana Neratovice.
Since the main part of the Spolana Dioxins project task - decontamination of two highly contaminated buildings - has been successfully finished, SITA CZ a.s. accepted with positive approach the possibility to sell its share in BCD CZ a.s. to the British company, TSCR Limited.
TSCR Limited, through its subsidiary BCD CZ a.s., will become the only player in the following stages of the Spolana Dioxins project.
Spolana is one of the biggest chemical plants in Czech Republic. In the years of 1965 through 1968, there has been a PCP (pentachlorophenol) facility located to Spolana plant. As a result of operations of this facility, a great amount of highly concentrated contaminants - dioxins - has been spread all round the entire plant. The dioxins have been produced as a by-product of the facility. As a result of the contamination, many of the employees reported medical problems. This contamination was one of the most serious old environmental loads in Czech Republic (approx. 43,000 tons of contaminated material). Currently, this contamination is removed.
