Landfills represent the last link in the waste disposal chain. In the landfills, the waste is tipped in line with health protection, geology, and environment rules, minimising thus impacts on the environment. In the Czech Republic, SITA operates controlled landfills for S-IO, S-OO, S-NO waste types as well as single waste type landfills where inert, municipal, non-hazardous, or hazardous waste is landfilled. The landfills are fully protected, meet the criteria and legal regulations (in terms of the construction and operation), have been approved within the integrated permit procedure, and the safety of the landfills is regularly monitored.
