7 December 2011 - SITA CZ READ A LECTURE TO STUDENTS AT THE MASARYK UNIVERSITY

Brno, 7 December 2011 - Several dozens of Faculty of Science students took part since October to December in the course named Waste Management in Practice which was led by experts and lecturers from SITA CZ. Topics presented during the semester include a wide portfolio of waste management - from the recycling and use of secondary raw materials, waste logistics to special methods used in disposal of wastes, for instance, in incinerators. The students gained important information directly from practice. In addition, they visited waste disposal and waste handling facilities during their field trips.

WASTES AS PHILOSOPHY OF THE CURRENT CIVILISATION
The whole of the cycle was completed on 6 December in the Research Centre for of Toxic Substances in Environment (RECETOX) in the Masaryk University camp in Brno Bohunice. by the Managing Director of SITA Dipl. Ing. Zdeněk Horsák, Ph.D. who was speaking about advanced trends in waste management. The students learned about efficiency limits for waste recycling, future generation of energy from wastes and watched video records of advanced waste management solutions used in other countries where SITA, being a part of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, operates.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Waste Management Course in now a part of a rather wide project projektu OPVK RECETOX EDUCATION, the objective of which is to innovate and extend the environment-focused curricula in the Masaryk University. SITA is among 8 partners in the project which combines knowledge and expertise from the state sector, academic sector, non-profit sphere and businesses. The Research Centre for of Toxic Substances in Environment (RECETOX) is an independent institute at the Faculty of Science in the Masaryk University. It creates a living platform for environmental curricula which adapts topics to applied practice and makes it easier for the graduates to find jobs on the market and start their professional career.

SITA – RECETOX COOPERATION
In addition to lectures on the waste management, SITA is also involved in RECETOX projects in Kazakhstan and Kyrgystan, the goal being to remove toxic industrial compounds from the environment. The Managing Director of SITA Dipl. Ing. Zdeněk Horsák, Ph.D. is also the member of the RECETOX General College, the task of which is to provide critical opinion on project outcomes and to introduce new findings from the application sphere among the academic experts in RECETOX.
